Objective

The seminar aims to bring together key stakeholders, including debtor and creditor countries, private sectors and multilateral organizations, to engage, rethink and have a dialogue in addressing Africa’s economic challenges especially related to debt vulnerabilities, aiming to ensure sustainable growth of African countries in a better-coordinated manner. More specifically, this dialogue will focus on i) lessons learnt from sovereign debt restructuring process under the G20 Common Framework for debt treatment and way forward, and ii) ongoing international efforts to address debt vulnerabilities and create fiscal space including through strengthening domestic revenue mobilization (DRM) as well as enhancing debt transparency. These discussions will help all the participants from various backgrounds have common understanding on priorities where further improvements are necessary on debt restructuring process, debt management and debt transparency, which will build momentum for further progress.
